I am Cate Wiggins, owner of First Spring Doula. I am a Certified Labor Doula (CAPPA). My husband and I are originally from Alabama, and have proudly called Fort Worth home since August 2011. We met in college and have been married since 2010. We have two beautiful children, who look just like their daddy, Elijah (2012) and Nora (2015). In addition to being a wife, mom, and doula, I am also a Fort Worth Moms Blog contributing writer.
After a less than perfect birth with my son, I decided to change my whole approach the second time around. With the revamping of my birth team, including my doula, Tonya, I was able to have the birth I've always wanted. It was after that delivery that I felt called to offer to Fort Worth what Tonya offered to us, education and support.
Though I'm somewhat new in the birth world, I have served many families through birth at their home, birth centers, and hospitals. I have served at the Fort Worth Birthing Center as well as three of Fort Worth's major hospitals (Harris Downtown, Harris Southwest, and Baylor, Scott, and White). I have learned the ins and outs of those birth locations. I am also well versed and fully comfortable in the setting of home births. I enjoy working with Midwives and Obstetricians alike.
I enjoy supporting women with various desires and strive to offer complete and unbiased information on a variety of topics surrounding labor and delivery. I believe in a woman's ability to birth well and I'm passionate about educating men and women in the normalcy of birth so they are empowered to make informed decisions regarding their personal journey.
Unwinding for me looks like binge watching my favorite episodes of The Office and singing at the top of my lungs. I love a good documentary and fiction novel. My pre-birth jams vary between The Civil Wars, Adele, and Broadway soundtracks.
I would love to chat with you about your dreams and how we could work together for the birth you desire.

Each year we look forward to spring; to the newness it promises, to life and rebirth. Each one awakening a new part of ourselves to be explored. As is the same with children. Each child that is brought into our families, brings with him the promise of something new. With each birth, we learn a new piece to ourselves that we didn't know existed before. With each birth, we are, ourselves, are reborn.
